Saturday 12th December 10-5pm
Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford.
Unit F9 The Mayford Centre,
What does the day involve?
During this day workshop we will introduce you to a wide range of tools which can be utilised within a hydraulic press including pancake dies, bangle and ring dies, and press forming moulds to allow you to create hollow forms. Krista will provide you with a range of demonstrations to introduce you to the techniques and results that can be achieved using the press and associated tools. You can then experiment throughout the day creating your own designs. We have allowed enough materials within the price for one press formed pendant, however it is your day to experiment with the techniques introduced to you, therefore feel free to bring additional silver to experiment with. You will be shown equipment to create bangles, rings and additional pendants so the day allows for some freedom. We also sell some silver at the workshop, but feel free to bring your own supplies. If you are planning additional press forming pendants, do not purchase sheet thicker than 0.7mm. Size wise, 5cm x 5cm or more will allow enough coverage for the shaped silhouettes.
The hydraulic press as a piece of equipment really opens the door to allow you to create some unique designs. It is not a tool which is commonly found in many workshops within the UK, however it brings so much opportunity to take designs further and create fantastic hollow forms.
We have put together a Pinterest Board to help inspire and show the results which can be achieved with press forming: Pinterest Press Forming
