Saturday 23rd October 10-5pm
Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford.
Unit F9 The Mayford Centre,
What does the day involve?
In this course we will look at how to make a wax master for a single stone solitaire style ring.
Using traditional wax carving techniques you will make a ring to your own design, based around a single centre round faceted stone (please bring along a stone of your choice. We can guide you if required with size and a stone which is suitable for setting.)
The band will be made to specific size and to the correct tolerances for stone setting using a rub over style setting and can be either made to a traditional design or your design (as long as the stone fits it’s up to you).
Once the rings have been made and finished to the correct standards for casting you will be able to send them off for casting yourselves if you wish to do so. We will guide you through the casting process talking about both how lost wax casting is used in the jewellery industry, and how to set up an account with a professional casting company.
This is designed as part one of a two day course with the second day focusing on setting your stone into the your ring once it has returned from casting, however, it is not essential you take part in both courses.
Please do not book if you do not agree with our Coronavirus procedures.
Some basic jewellery making experience would be an advantage to do this course but it is not essential.
5 to allow for social distancing
